Sarah Watson was introduced to obstacle course racing (OCR) after the birth of her second daughter in late 2011 as a way to challenge herself and step outside of the typical realm of fitness. The Texas native quickly fell in love with the sport as a whole and would travel to races as often as possible. She began racing competitively in 2015 after being introduced to BattleFrog Obstacle Racing Series. The series focuses on mandatory obstacle completion for their elite athletes, separating the trail run from the true OCR.
After a year of testing the waters in the elite waves against athletes she aspired to be, Sarah finished 8th overall in the BattleFrog Points Series Cup for 2015, making a name for herself on the BattleFrog frontline. Her 2016 season is off to a heated start with 5 podium finishes, most notably, her 2nd place finish at the inaugural BFX24, a 24 hour event in which an athlete completes as many laps as possible of a 6 mile + 35 obstacle circuit.
While racing is definitely a passion in her life, Sarah is a dedicated wife and mother. The support from her husband and two daughters is what drives her to become a better athlete. “I want to be an example for my daughters. I want to show them they can be anything they want to be, as long as they are willing to work to get there. I want them to look up to me and be proud to say ‘that’s my mom”.
Sarah is a member of the BattleFrog Pro Team and will compete in 20+ OCRs across the nation in 2016, as well as OCR World Championships, Worlds Toughest Mudder, and the BattleFrog Championships.
